They want to be with other dogs, lead by their owner or alpha dog, and they feel safe and secure with their pack around. So when you leave every day to go to work, to the movies, or even a quick trip to the store, your the secret will get anxious in your absence, as being alone makes them feel uncomfortable.

Your dog's anxiety works like a clock. Each minute you are absent, a little bit more anxiety starts to build. Depending on your breed of dog, this anxiety builds faster or slower, but all dogs feel it. Some dogs can last tanie ksiazki entire day without experiencing too much anxiety, while others - especially the very loyal and friendly breeds - can become incredibly nervous and jittery in as little as a few hour or less.

This nervousness leads to unwanted behaviors, like chewing, whining, urinating or scratching, which a dog does in order to release some of its anxiety. These behaviors can be destructive to both your house and your dog, as the longer this anxiety goes untreated, the more it will grow every ksiazki you leave your house.

But there are several things you can do in order to decrease your dog's chances of getting separation anxiety. These methods are best starting young, as a dog that already has too much separation anxiety may still need training from a professional, but all of these tips are useful ways to ensure your dog does not get any worse:

1) Before leaving the house, be sure and ignore your dog completely for at least 10 minutes. Do not look at your dog, do not talk to your dog, and most importantly, do not do any behaviors that get your dog excited. Your dog experiences an increase in energy naturally when you leave, and exciting your dog only to step out of your house and leave it alone will give your dog a rush of loneliness and extra nervousness. You want your dog to barely notice your absence, and gathering its attention before leaving does not accomplish that goal.

2) Similar to number 1, when arriving back home, ignore your dog for another 5 or so more minutes. It is tempting to give attention to your clearly attention starved pet, but doting on your dog when you come home is only going to teach it to wait, nervously for your return in order to receive the affection it was waiting for. Dogs that are given too much attention by their owner when they come home end up sitting by the door, waiting for their owner's return. The longer the owner takes, the more that excitement becomes anxiety and, eventually, unwanted behaviors.

3) Dogs are incredibly smart animals. They notice that you get up and put your coat on before you leave, or that you pick up your keys from the table. So those noises start to associate themselves with you leaving, and the anxiety will begin to kick in even before you have walked out of the door. If you notice that any of these rituals are exciting your dog, try to do them when you are not leaving. Put your coat on but stay inside the house. Jiggle your keys a bit but do not step foot outside the door. Eventually, your dog will start to habituate to these behaviors and they will not cause the same anxiety as they had previously.

4) As you work on all of these methods, you should also try the taking short trips outside. This can take a little time out of your day, so be sure you have a lot of time to devote to this. In order for the short trip method to work, you need to make sure your dog is not too excited. Then leave your house, but do not wander off. Wait outside the door for about 1 to 2 minutes and listen for any bad behaviors. If/when there are not any, come back inside. Wait until your dog calms down and try again. This time wait an extra 1-3 minutes. If your dog starts to make whiney noises, it is important to wait until it has stopped before entering again. Eventually, you will be able to work your way up to 30-60 minute periods. Once you have managed to keep your dog anxiety free for that long, you are ready to take longer trips.

Separation anxiety is a serious issue, both with pets and with pet owners. It can cause harm to your belongings as well as your dog, and can hurt your relationship with your dog (and your neighbors). But by using these techniques to reduce the likelihood of separation anxiety, you should be able to keep the unwanted behaviors to a minimum.

Healthy Dogs enjoy Dog Treats and Bully Sticks.

Quiz - Do You Get Anxiety Attacks?

Anxiety is very common. Fear, worry, anxiety, unease are all very common feelings. Anxiety attacks are not very common, but many of us suffer from anxiety attacks. Are you one of them? Let us find out.

What are anxiety attacks? An immediate onset of great amount of anxiety suddenly is an anxiety attack. Most of the anxiety attacks have physical symptoms. Let me give you an example. Say you have to deliver lecture tomorrow in front of an audience of thousand people. You will get anxious about that and remain so all through the night. But when you reach the podium, you may get the anxiety attack despite all the preparation. Most of us get such attacks. The situation may be different for all of us. There rare cases where people get anxiety attacks if they have to talk to someone of opposites sex.

Why do we get anxiety attacks? The causes of such attacks are mainly rooted in our ancestry. Our ancestors were taught by nature to save themselves by running away from any danger if they could not fight it. We have inherited those genes. Though we don't face fierce animals in jungles, we face situations that make us equally scary and we want to runaway, but unlike our ancestors we cannot run away in social situations.

The other reasons may include some incidents of childhood, that are carried to the adulthood or other psychological reasons that are better diagnosed by a medical professional. If anxiety attacks are damaging your social and work life, get treated. In case of normal attacks that you feel you can manage yourself deep breathing may help.

The author, C.D. It makes us alert when we sense danger. It causes our bodies to prepare themselves for any action that might be required to ensure our safety.

Imagine finding the anxiety cure that removes all anxiety from your body. Imagine being perfectly calm under all circumstances. Nothing stirs you. No matter what comes along, you do not react. Your heart doesn't speed up. Your mind doesn't race. Your muscles don't tense.

You just sit there. Unmoved.

Now imagine that the "something" coming your way is a big old grizzly bear. You're so relaxed you really don't much care that it's a threat to your well being. What do you suppose the result will be?

Yes, the bear might stroll right on by and ignore you. It might, but you can't be sure. It likely will want to sniff you and if it smells something interesting, it just might attack you.

You see, an all-out anxiety cure would be a bad thing, even though you might think it would be a tremendous benefit to your everyday life.

What you're really looking for is an anxiety cure that will teach you how not to get anxious when there's really nothing to be anxious about. Those are the times when whatever you are dreading is what you "perceive" is dangerous when in fact it isn't.

Unnecessary anxiety is a reaction that you learned during some experience that caused your anxiety switch to get stuck in the "on" position. In other words, you attached anxiety to that initial experience, and it stuck. Thereafter, you always get anxious when you revisit that experience, even though the initial danger is long gone.

Believe it or not, anxiety is a good thing, otherwise you'd die. Of course, too much of it can create havoc in your life.

So what kind of an anxiety cure would you be looking for?

It would have to teach you how not to become anxious all the time. It would teach you how to respond only to real dangers as you did early in your life, before something caused such a panic that your anxiety button went awry.

The trick, though, is learning how to cure anxiety, even though it travels at the speed of thought. You probably don't even recognize what triggers the anxiety because it happens so quickly.

Now, you don't want to slow down your anxiety responses because that would be as disastrous as not having any anxiety at all. In an emergency, your body needs time to prepare and in order to do so, your brain has worked out the time commitment required. It knows how long it takes for your heart to pump more blood to your muscles, and for the muscles to respond.

Although this process of preparation only takes a matter of split seconds, it's coordinated with absolute precision. You don't want to play with that.

Instead, you want an anxiety cure that will help you change which things you respond to and when. Remember, at some point you attached panic or anxiety to a specific situation or event, and now, you always respond that way to that event.

Your ideal anxiety cure will help you remove the panic and anxiety from that situation.

One way to do that is through desensitization, which means revisiting that situation repeatedly until you become desensitized to it and no longer attach anxiety to it.

You can also use visualization. This involves visualizing the "threatening" situation and see yourself going through the motions without anxiety. Visualize yourself climbing those open ladders, taking that flight, making that speech with full confidence.

Another step to your anxiety cure is to reduce stress, because quite frequently, persistent stress sets the anxiety stream in motion. Remove the stress and the anxiety will disappear.

There are programs available to help you. You can contact your doctor for a referral to a therapist, you can visit your local mental health clinic, or you can seek a counselor.

You can also take advantage of some of the excellent products that are available that will teach the anxiety cure techniques that have worked for others.

Yes there is an anxiety cure, but you can't stop anxiety completely. The right anxiety cure will enable you to live a normal life again, when you respond with anxiety only to events that truly require it.

Learn more about Anxiety Cure Programs to help you. Of course all of us are serious at certain times. But by serious I mean do you seem to be a much more serious person than most people? Do you seem more tense or react to things a little stronger than the average person?

I think the answer to this is probably yes. You see, people that have panic and anxiety attacks seem to be much more sensitive to situations that may involve a difficult decision, crises, or a fearful experience.

If your a person who is constantly feeling worried or "stressed out" your are much more vulnerable to lapse into a panic attack.

So as a sufferer from panic disorder what do you do when you've lapsed into a panic attack? Do you fight it mentally to try to get it to stop? Do you curl up in a ball quivering while your mind is racing?

Everyone has their own way of dealing with their panic attacks and it is quite different from person to person.

Did you know that people with panic disorder are very very smart individuals? Yes that indeed is a plus. However it can also play against them. The reason it can play against them is that they develop a keen sense of their inner self with overly obsessive thoughts.

Basically too much thinking about negative thoughts with the onset of stress can bring a person to succumb to the symptoms of a panic attack. Once that fear is felt, the mind becomes afraid of what can happen next- a panic attack.

When I'm having a panic attack I relax completely and just say to myself I've had these hundreds of times over 30 years and this one is not any different than the last one. I will not die from a panic attack and people do not die form panic attacks. I will then laugh at my panic attacks and change my mind set to think "the heck with it". Its here and it will pass.

Guess what happens when I change my mind set? You guessed it, my panic attack will almost instantly subside.

I've suffered from severe symptoms of panic attacks for nearly 30 years.
